Why you should start Yoga today!

International Yoga Day is approaching (July 21st) and for a day the internet will be flooded with the benefits of yoga. I’ll tell you 5 simple reasons why you should start practicing yoga not only for a day, but for life.

1. It is for everyone:

Yes, you read that right! Yoga is for everyone. Be it diabetes, sinusitis, back pain, thyroid disorder, or practically any health issue, yoga has a solution for it. There are certain asanas meant for certain disorders and if practiced correctly, they can have tremendous benefits.

2. Gives Peace of mind:

Yoga is known to reduce stress immensely. It therefore is also helpful in many stress related health complications like insomnia, migraine, etc. If you practice regularly, it can help you to calm down and improve your over all well-being.

3. Improves balance:

Regularly practicing yoga helps in improving balance. This is great especially for the elderly, since it means fewer falls and fewer injuries.

4. Improves flexibility:

Apart from improving balance, yoga also improves flexibility. It has been seen that with our sedentary lifestyles, we are become lesser flexible. Also, the body of the people who go to the gym regularly and do heavy weight training becomes stiff. It can help in reducing the stiffness in the body.

5. Increases blood flow:

Yoga gets your blood flowing. The various asanas help in improving blood circulation to various parts of the body. Increased blood flow means increased oxygen to the cells, which function better as a result. Asanas like headstand or handstands, make the blood flow back to the heart, where it gets pumped to the lungs for oxygenation. This helps in relieving swelling in the legs and feet.
