Recipe for a Healthy Glowing Skin!

Does your skin feel dry often after waking up? Do you often get eruptions and acne? Does your skin turn oily after getting exposed to sun for couple minutes?

If your answers to all these above mentioned questions are “yes”, then it is the time to take a good care of your skin as it needs help! Read on to know how can you get glowing skin.

The secret of a healthy and glowing skin does not lie in your make up box, but it remains hidden in what you eat. Some people have inborn healthy skin, others can actually get it by following a proper skin friendly routine.

There are many reasons which can lead to skin damage. The most important ones are –

 

  • Long exposure to mid day sun
  • Low water intake
  • Hormonal Imbalance
  • Ageing
  • Free Radical Damage
  • Exposure to harmful chemicals in the form of cosmetics
  • Stress
  • Improper Sleep
  • Consumption of Excessive Oily and Fatty Foods

 

To get rid of the above mentioned factors and to get glowing skin, you must take care of the following –

1. Ensure Seven Hours Sleep

A good sleep of 7-8 hours can let your skin undergo the complete process of wear and tear leaving your skin firm, youthful and glossy. Incomplete sleep can interfere with the cell regeneration process leading to cell damage and wrinkle formation.

2. Say Yes to Anti Oxidants

Pollution and usage of preservatives in foods increases the production of free radicals in our body. Free radicals are the charged by products of metabolism which has the ability of damaging cells leading to wrinkle formation. Anti oxidants are highly needed to stop this free radical damage in body. Green tea, highly pigmented fresh fruits, vegetables, raw turmeric etc are good source of anti oxidants.

3. Protein : The Savior

The firmness of skin is maintained by a component known as collagen which is mainly a kind of protein. Insufficient protein intake may hamper the collagen formation leading to the development of patchy and dark skin, wrinkle and fine lines. Keep good amount of high quality protein like – eggs, meat, fish, dairy products, poultry products in your diet to meet the daily protein requirement.

4. Vitamin C : The Key

Vitamin C plays a dual role in keeping your skin healthy. It works as a potent anti oxidant to fight against free radical damage and prevents the production of fine lines, wrinkle and dead cell. On the other hand, along with protein it, take parts in collagen formation and helps in keeping skin firm and youthful. Gooseberry, guava, papaya, orange, lime etc are some of the richest source of vitamin C which must be included in diet.

5. Water : The Lifeline

To keep the skin hydrated, it is essential to drink around 3 lits of water on a daily basis. Incorporate detox water, fresh juice, soup in your daily routine so that the skin can get enough water and make you look flawless.

6. Say No to Junks

Fried fatty foods, oily stuffs, sugary foods can lead to high amount of free radical generation in body which can damage the skin. On top of that sugary foods cause dehydration leaving the skin dry and patchy. Cut down on junks and say yes to homemade foods to ensure a proper skin health.

7. Vitamin A : The In Thing

Vitamin A is associated with epithelial health maintenance so it is of no wonder that it would be essential for skin health also. Lack of vitamin A can make skin really rough. Consume stuffs like egg yolk, Carrot, Green Leafy Veggies to keep the vitamin A intake steady in your diet.

8. Vitamin E : The Elixir

Vitamin E works to block free radicals from the body, which play a large part in the aging process. If we can fight off free radicals, then we can reduce wrinkles and keep the skin youthful-looking. Wheat Germ oil, Nuts and seeds are rich in vitamin E. Introduce them in your diet to get the benefit of the elixir.
