FLAWLESS: SKIN DEEP

“Healthy skin requires commitment, not a miracle”

ABOUT SKIN:

Skin is the body’s largest organ. It’s our body coat. It protects the body from infections and germs and helps to stay warm when it’s cold and to stay cool when it’s hot. Therefore it is important to maintain healthy skin which looks good too.

There are three layers of skin:

  • Epidermis:

It’s the topmost layer of the skin. It makes new cells and sheds the old cells continuously. It gives the skin it’s color due to the pigment is known as- Melanin.  The epidermis has a special cell, the Langerhans cells, which work to protect us as part of our immune system & helps us stay healthy

  • Dermis:

The dermis is the middle layer of the skin. It has sweat glands, which opens as pores and lets the toxins out of the system, as well as helps us cool off during hot summers. Dermis has nerve endings, which helps us feel things by touch. It makes oil via oil glands deep in the dermis. The oil keeps skin soft & smooth. But when these glands make too much oil it gives pimples. It contains blood vessels that supply the skin.

  • Subcutaneous fat:

The bottom layer of the skin is the subcutaneous fat layer. It connects dermis to the bone & muscles. It helps to control the body temperature by storing fat. This fat pads the muscles and bones, which protects from injuries especially from falls.

“LOVE THE SKIN YOU ARE IN- HEALTHY SKIN IS A REFLECTION OF OVERALL WELLNESS”

Skincare is extremely important to maintain good health. A glowing complexion gives you the confidence to look your best. Invest early in your skin, as it’s going to represent you for a long time.

“A Healthy skin outside starts from inside”

6 Easy steps to a beautiful & Flawless Skin:

  • HYDRATION:

Drink more water. A well-hydrated skin is supple, it has a better tone, and appears more healthy & vibrant. Dehydrated skin appears dull, flaky, shows fine lines and wrinkles easily.

  • DIETARY CHANGES:

Eat more green for a healthy & radiant skin like spinach, coriander, lettuce. They are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, excellent in the body’s natural process of detoxification. It is known to boost energy and lift up the mood natural process Foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids such as sardines, walnuts, flaxseeds gives a natural glow to the skin. Have fruits and veggies rich in collagen-boosting vitamin C such as strawberries, broccoli, oranges, and bell peppers. It prevents dryness, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially around eyes. Vitamin C is an antioxidant responsible for the firmness and texture of the skin.

  • GET MOVING AND GROOVING:

Incorporate some form of exercise in your lifestyle like yoga, aerobics, and running, dancing, or hiking. Sweating keeps the toxins out and helps in the body’s natural detoxification process. Regular exercise is an excellent way to encourage healthy perspiration.

  • SKINCARE:

Cleanse your face twice in a day with a mild cleanser. With gentle exfoliation once weekly. Avoid scrubs as it causes skin irritation and can cause premature aging. Ages above 30 can do two to three times a week for normal and combination skin, and once a week for sensitive skin.

  • WEAR SUNSCREEN:

Sunscreen is a must before you step out in the sun. Try to stay in shade especially between 10:00 a.m -04:00 p.m. Put sunscreen with SPF 30, thirty minutes before going out.

  • GET ENOUGH SLEEP AND AVOID STRESS:

Lack of sleep & Stress are the greatest contributors to premature aging, acne, and other skin problems. It is not possible always to remove the stress, but we can always improve awareness of stress & how to react to stressful situations in a more productive way.

Promoting an overall healthy diet & lifestyle has long-lasting positive results on the skin. It’s always better to get nutrients from healthy skin from food, not just supplements.
