Dos and Don’ts to remember if you are partying tonight!

Are you the one who follows a perfect diet throughout the week but cannot keep it going during the weekends due to parties? Are you a professional who needs to attend repeated parties after a business meeting?

If the answers to the above-mentioned questions are yes, then you must follow the below-mentioned rules to keep the calorie balance under control, even after attending repeated parties. These party guidelines will make sure that you do not deviate from your healthy diet.

Generally in a party due to the temptation of a wide variety of foods and drinks, it becomes very difficult to keep a check on calories. But if you follow these party guidelines then things will become much easier for you –

  • Never Go To a Party On an Empty Stomach

You should never go to a party on an empty stomach. That can make you grab the food without being cautious about its calorie as soon as you see it. Always take a small balanced meal before you step out. A piece of chicken sandwich or a cup of muesli with milk or a small bowl of sprout salad can help you feel full and can reduce the hunger pangs. This helps you to eat mindfully.

  • Do Moderate Workout Before You Leave

Try to do some workout a couple of hours before you leave for the party. Workout helps to increase your metabolic rate and manages the load of extra fat and carbohydrates to some extent.

  • Eat Mindfully

Be careful about what you are eating. Start your meal with salad, followed by soup, the main course. Try to take dessert in very less quantity as that often contains stuffs like simple sugar and fat. Pick green salad with mayo dressing, clear soup, naan, rice, etc. In the main accompaniment try to ditch the oily gravy and just eat the fish/chicken/paneer/veggies.

  • Do Not Drink On An Empty Stomach

Never ever drink on an empty stomach. This leads to fast absorption of alcohol in blood which can make you feel intoxicated 85% faster than that of the case if you drink after having a small meal. Also, it can lead to severe dehydration.

  • Be Smart in Choosing Snack While Drinking

Alcohol makes us dehydrated. On top of that, if you pick fried fatty foods as accompaniment; then the condition can be even worse. Fried foods are high in calories and they also contribute to the dehydration process. Pick freshly cut fruits, dry roasted nuts, grilled kebab, dark chocolate as accompaniment while drinking. Do not add up cola drinks in your alcohol. Add club soda or water to keep the calorie intake under control.

  • Dance The Night Away

If there is a dance floor at the party, utilize it. Dancing can actually help you to manage all the unwanted calories by increasing your metabolic rate. Groove with the music and shed those extra calories.

  • Keep Yourself Hydrated

No matter whatever you are eating always try to keep yourself well hydrated. That not only prevents dehydration but also helps to flush out metabolic toxins from the body. So keep drinking water.

Post Party Management

The next day after the party is very important because that is when you are going to make up for the previous days’ unwanted intakes. Even if you follow all the above-mentioned party guidelines, it is important to do the post-party management as well. Follow a strict regime the next day. Plan your five meals smartly. To curb hangover start your day with lukewarm lemon water followed by a well balanced and easily digestible breakfast. A bowl of muesli, milk with fresh-cut fruits, yogurt fruit parfait, a piece of chicken sandwich, paneer cheela with curd, idli sambar, sprouts poha, or veggie upma can be taken as breakfast. The day needs detoxification to the core so keep a bottle of cucumber-mint infused water ready and sip it throughout the day. Have tender coconut water or buttermilk in midmorning snack with a large portion of sprout salad or chicken salad in lunch. For evening snacks rely on egg white omelet or boiled peas. Take a light dinner with veggie stew and a portion of protein. Walk a kilometer extra or do 15 minutes extra cardio to balance the calorie pool.

Following these party guidelines, the next time you go partying will definitely help you to enjoy guilt-free.
