The monsoon is welcomed by everyone, as the season brings relief from summer heat. However, the cool wet season also brings various diseases along with cool drizzles. The increased humidity is ideal environment for various viruses and bacteria to grow and spread at a faster rate and therefore ailments like viral fever, cold & flu, diarrhea, food poisoning and dysentery become prevalent. Thus, eating healthy is very important during Monsoon and all you need to do is eat the right kind of food to enjoy a disease-free season.  Here’s a list of the top monsoon foods which you can include in your meals to boost up the immunity and fight off the diseases!

Seasonal fruits like Cherries, Jamun, lychees, peaches and even bananas are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Make sure to stick to the seasonal ones only as they haven’t been processed or transported over long distances and hence retains their maximum nutrition.

Vegetables recommended during the rains are the non-leafy ones such as snake gourd (turi), gourd (dudhi), pointed gourd (parwal), yam (suran), cluster beans (gavaar), apple gourd (tinda) and bitter gourd (karela) as they are seasonal and less likely to be infested with worms.
